Why set yourself to melancholy mood by listening to sad songs? Unless you feel it can provide the temporary emotional relief you badly need. Choose to read materials that are uplifting, engaging and inspiring. Learn from the great men and sages. The more you read, the more you become what you read.
Sometimes it may not be possible to cut-off certain people from your life completely. Maybe a dream-killer friend or a difficult colleague. That being the case, limit your association with them. Choose not to inhale the toxic air. Choose to inhale invigorating fresh air. Spend more time with positive people. Those whom you will feel energized in their presence. Those whom you will feel happy just being with them.
Make the decision. Choose positive influences. Weed out negative influences. And watch your life expands.
