Hi there,
Its been so long I just seemed to have lost touch with my passion – article writing.
A feedback on one of my article from a sweet lady called Manisha really geared me back to return to my old love and all time favorite. I was trying to figure out a way to reply to her and thank her but could not find it on the website. Anyways!!
So what am i thinking of writing today.
Well I just thought of dedicating this article to my boss, Mr Pradeep Karnik for the sweetest angel that he has been in carving my career.
Few days back, we have in our organisation something called as ICCR alongwith Objective review. ICCR stands for Individual Career and Competency Review.
We had to click the options on a software called People soft and update the same for self which would later be discussed face to face with the Superior. It was a long list of competency required for your future role which was set as 3 years from now and later. As a formality sake, I filled in and sent it just so that it is a complete task from my end.
I was later called upon for a one to one discussion with boss. On the day of discussion we opened the screen, Boss asked me all about what I wanted to do.
I said I need to come of the Executive Assistant role and move towards marketing role coz I was presently driving Sales Excellence & Customer Satisfaction in our BU for All India team. I have in my past roles worked on Corporate dossier which dealt with marketing research. At the same time, organising events equally excited me.
We began the discussion where I started enjoying the way I was getting clearer myself while expressing the same to him. We debated on the competancies that I had said no interest for but were important for me considering the future role that I wanted to see myself in. At the end of the session I felt so good about the same activity that didnt matter to me before.
I learnt a very important lesson from my boss. However unimportant an activity looks, try to give your best in the same. Had it been he would have had a discussion with me, my views would have been still more or less the same.
He once said, its so funny, we are so serious about our business, our office, we brainstorm on the potential, access it with the resources available, figure out the deviations, set a action plan to set the wrong things to a right path, organise monthly reviews and hence we are so clear of what we want in our official roles but have we anytime thought about it as regards our personal self and life is concerned?
So strange yet so true – If the same effort we put in ourselves what a beautiful clear goal we would have and we exactly would figure out what are we supposed to do and incase we go astray what corrective measures do we take.
Mentoring and coaching indeed works as a magical wand. Am so glad to have been bestowed by the best of Angels in my life to guide me.
Now when I am trying to get clearer of my goal in life, I feel there is so much that i need to do, same marketing studies for my MBA course, same job at office but now the way I am putting my efforts, learning from them, setting an expectation for my self is way higher than it would have normally been. And I am feeling so happy about it.
Thats about me folks, trust the article cheers you up as well and you start seeing things differently and enjoy doing it the way I do.
